The Labour Process

The Labour Process

This series sprung out of a natural lure towards the beauty of labouring women. These photographs were made all across Canada, and are a combination of home and hospital settings. Some of these women are under the care of midwives, some under the care of doctors and others were cared for by both professions. The purpose of this project is to change the way we as a culture look at, and understand the birthing process and it’s significance. Birth is typically depicted in a scary, chaotic fashion and I would like to shed important light on the truth within the pain and triumph of which we are all born. This is an ongoing project and is not limited by geographical location. Please contact me if you would like to participate as a mother or caregiver in this project.
